My Minimal Travel Sketching Kit

I have mentioned my equipment before, but felt it was time again to share my minimal gear: the supplies that travel with me everywhere. Here it is:

6" x  9" Aquabee Super Deluxe Sketchbook
Winsor & Newton Artist's Field Sketchbox filled with Holbien Watercolor paint:

Gamboge Nova
Permanent Yellow Orange
Cadmium Red Light
Alizarin Crimson
Olive Green/Greenish Yellow
Raw Sienna
Burnt Sienna
Burnt Umber
Cerulean Blue
Colbalt Blue
Marine Blue
Ultramarine Deep

Sable Travel Brushes from Daniel Smith
0.5 mechanical pencil with HB lead
Sanford Unibal Micro pen
Pentel Sign Pen
Mars Staedtler Eraser
Tube of Titanium white

Everything but the sketchbook travels in a small black nylon pouch that I carry in my attache/satchel (or if on the weekend, my back pack). With this simple set I can paint anywhere, anytime. I can practice drawing, sketching, and painting everyday with minimal effort.

I hope this is helpful.

Saturday In The Park - Part 2

Here is the second painting done at Maranatha High School for the Mid Valley Art League, Saturday In The Park with the Masters event. My initial sketch is shown at the top, followed by the final painting in progress, and the final painting, at 90% complete.

My Paint Sets - Part 2

Here are some of my metal boxes, an d some of my vintage boxes. The top one is a vintage Winsor & Newton box that I had refinished. It came in two parts: the main box that contained small tubes of paint, and the top part that consisted of a fold out palette.

The next two are vintage boxes that a friend gave me. They are quite old and unused. One of them still has the wrappers around the half-pans.

I regularly use the bottom three. They are all made by Winsor & Newton. The bottom one was given to me by another friend and was so old that the paints were in ceramic pans. They didn't survive the renovation of the paint box however.
