Los Angeles From City Hall

Here is another view of downtown Los Angeles from the observation room of  City Hall. I left a lot of white space, and emphasized the colors, mixing them right on the paper and keeping it loose and splashy. I added some alternate views and some composition studies and mounted it to a cradled hardboard panel, finishing it off with some stenciled copy and a few more splatters of paint.

Some New Collages

Here are three new collages of some of my favorite subjects. The center one of the The Pantry Cafe in Los Angeles was a painting I did a while ago. I wanted to recharge it so I added some little study sketches and mounted it to another cradled foam core panel. I finished all of them with a stenciled title done in pencil.

In N Out Burger Final

 I did the final painting on a quarter-size sheet of Arches hot press paper and mounted it to a cradled foam core panel that I made by gluing the foam core to four wooden stretcher bars and applying three coats of gesso to it. I did some small composition studies and applied them to the top of the panel and mounted the assembly inside an acrylic box frame. The painting is 12" x 12" and is a nice little jewel.
